Hello from New York City! Just downloaded #12 as I was looking for something fresh for my ipod. Have gotten very into chillout and ambient these days. It is soothing amidst the hectic pace of NYC. The last thing I have been listening to is an album called Oxycanta which you may enjoy as well. Is there any way to correspond with you outside of this comments section? Would love to chat more about the medium of podcasting as I have some ideas of my own. OK, keep up the good work! Cheers and happy winter, Tina.

Hello, yes I think so alot of the music is by early bands trying to get some free promotion. The reason I don't do podcasts often though is that there is alot of crap, not just in chillout genre but in all the genres so I have to dig and wait for the right track to come along. I'm kind of lazy and tend to just use the one site but if anyone else knows of some cool chilled tunes wanting some free promotion drop me a line as Id be happy to play it if its cool.

Thanks for your comment and for listening! :)

Another beautiful compilation of music to complement the winter mood. The 'Under' track resonates particularly, managing to be sad yet uplifting at the same time. The fact that these tracks are all free to download is also amazing. I wonder how this works logistically, do the artists permit it as a method of promotion?

Greetings,

I love the mix, and love the introduction to tracks I haven't come across. Please consider backing off the self-promotion a bit - the "chillsky" references are a bit grating when they outweigh the music (about 2:1 in #9). But PLEASE keep it up - love the 'cast.

New listener from Denmark. #5 is my first experience with the podcast. And love all the tracks :D Keep up the good work. Would be nice if you could extend the podcast sessions to like a hour or so. Anyway, really enjoyed my first session with ya. Its definitely not the last

Another great ChillCast - I certainly feel like a chilled-out, mellow-marshmellow! O, and I gave the number a ring, it seems to be working however there's two different messages from you Mr.ChillCast with some time in between before it lets you record. Just thought i'd let you know if you don't already..... Thanks again buddy, I'm looking forward to the next addition.

Alrite, as I listen to this chill cast it is snowing outside, its really cool. Anyways, thought I'd say keep up the good work. Just as an aside however, where have the track listings gone from info? Think it started bout podcast 18 when you moved to the mighty mac. Just was wandering was all, as I do like to see what the tracks are cos some of them are awesome.
Anyways, I'm off to stare at the snow some more.
J

[the track listings have gone as its part o the T&C's for a podcast license including playing at the start and end of a track, crap i know but there you go. - ChillCast]

hey thanks for the comment - we totally agree with you number 20 was too rushed and i used garageband in a total random fashion in one take. i'm going back to my old mic setup for the next podcast and sticking with ubercaster. call this episode a glitch in the matrix or something :)

dont worry about itunes but thanks for checking out the podcast. peace out xxx

Hello,
love the tunes as always but if I could make a suggestion, as you look to master garageband, to keep an eye on the volume consistency. When you come in to talk you're a lot quieter than the music and sometimes when the music is faded back in it either a) appears louder or b) is loader than the previous track. I've only noticed it on this episode so I would assume it's the new production environment :)
Also, I went to your itunes page and couldn't see where to vote?! Can Australia place votes?
thanks

hello, im responding to your comment on chillcast.co.uk

Let me address your comments below:

hi, it's me, anji bee. i thought i should pipe in on this conversation,
[ im in no conversation with anyone regarding your podcast]

as it involves me. i would have written you privately, but i want your listeners to know how i feel and who i am, as well. i don't appreciate your attacks and it has not gone unnoticed.

[ can you explain where i have attacked anyone ? ]

if you had been listening to my show over the past 2 years, you would know darned well what i am about. i am a music fan and creator who is 100% into what i do from a personal standpoint. nobody asked me to produce the chillcast or guides me in what i do. it's my show, built and created all by myself.

[ granted - every podcast is cool by us ]

when i began the chillcast, podsafe music was in its infancy. heck, podcasting was still relatively new. there were no podcast licenses for music. there was only 1 podsafe music site from which to choose music. i relied heavily on making contact with bands online to get permission to play their music. luckily, since i had already been an internet dj for years, and a college dj for years before that, i already knew many bands online who were more than willing to support my show.

[ i agree podcasting is a great new medium ]

anybody can throw together an illegal music podcast, but it takes work to create a legal music podcast.

[ we agree we also ran a podcafe podcast from 2005 ]

ultimately, it is more satisfying, as well, to help promote the music of people who you've made a one-on-one relationship with. to have people like beth hirsch and kirsty hawkshaw expressing to me how much they appreciate my show and what i do for them is the best kick of all.

[ we agree that must be satisfying ]

i think it is entirely unfair of you to treat me as you have,

[ we are a bit puzzled here at chillcast.co.uk as we are not aware of our unfair treatment of yourself? ]

and i think it is totally disingenuous to steal my podcast name outright.

we are a podcast that plays chillout music we picked chillcast as the domain name was free and we thought it would be a cool idea for this podcast. im sorry but we never listened to your podcast till about early december. this may sound strange but we just dont have the time to listen to other podcasts out there, honest. s

if you were not trying to steal my google, itunes, etc traffic,
[ we understand it that if people search for chillcast on any directory it will draw results eg. chillcast.com.. chillcast.co.uk etc etc . the same goes for any phrase searched for.

we cant really draw traffic from your site as we are not related to your site and you dont link too us. we cant be blamed for people clicking our entry in any search result .]

then you should change your podcast name to "chillout cast".
[ your right we could but to be fair our podcast is titled chillcast uk ]

it makes just as much, if not more sense! your motives for using my name are entirely suspect as it stands.
[ we have explained how we came to our name chillcast.co.uk ]

not only are you confusing my listener base,
[ we cant control any listeners im sorry]

but you are screwing with my technorati returns and who knows what else.

[ we cant control how the interweb works sorry ]

the word "chill" has more connotations than "chillout" music so there is no reason for me to feel obliged to play ONLY chillout music on my show.

[ we dont care what music you play on your show. we have no interest.]

i do play copious amounts of chillout music, but i also play music with a chilled vibe from numerous genres -- which i have always stated in my promos over the past 2 years. if you are so concerned with being branded as a chillout music podcast, i once again suggest you use the full term "chillout" in your name, such as "chillout cast".

[ please see above comments - we think its pretty clear that our show is not yours not only in name - our podcast is available via chillcast.co.uk - any jingles we use state our domain name and im a bloke and your not. ]

i don't deny your right to exist as a podcast,

[ thanks ]

though you may still be illegally podcasting music at this time,

[ nope sorry ]

but using my podcast name is really not cool.

[we dont ]

and for someone promoting chillness, picking fights with me o

[ can you please tell me where we picked a fight?]

as we have always stated

chillcast.co.uk is ALL about the music - we are not interested in podcasting cliques, podcasting websites, groups, social networksing website etc etc we exist just for the music.. chillout music.

we can apologise for you feeling the need to post on our website and obviously friends are spaming our site but we will just let this fly over and carry on chillin. we are no drama just 100% chillout music. we hope we can let this pass and carry on our paths in life.. peace out xxx

Firstly Cheers for checking out the podcast.

As Ive said previous chillcast name came from putting chillout and podcast together and this podcast and the 'other' one are totally different in every respect in that we are 100% about chillout music, we dont promote mobile phones, books, albums, our own band or anything else we just play chillout music.

The podcast community do seem like a good bunch of people if your middle class, a techie and live in western america. For everyone else they seem like a clique tech club.

We exist to promote chillout music we are not interested in 'podcasting seminars' or podcasting culture we exist as always for the music and damn good chilled beats at that!

We are in Europe the heart of dance culture where we can get to the hottest parties and clubs and chillcast is the perfect comedown from a 24hr party.

If we where the uk band Manic Street Preechers we would at this point carve " 4 real " into our arm.

Hi dude. I thought I'd just say hi to let you know WE ARE LISTENING!. Nice work on the site. Looks like you getting out there too with Flickr and Second Life etc.

On another note I have been a subscriber to Anji Bee's Pod Cast for some time. I've just started to listen to your about a week ago so I've just gone back and listened to your past episodes and found your comments about Anji Bee and her Pod Cast.

Personally I think it's great to have another chilled Pod Cast to listen to. If you genuinely didn't copy the name to draw from her fan base or direct web traffic originally searching for Anji Bee to your PodCast then so what if the names the same! Anji Bee by the way isn't all about self promoting. And the Podcasting community seems like a great bunch of people who love music and promoting independent musicians. It's hardly like these guys are cashing any major cheques doing what they do. Like you they just love the music and the culture. At least that's my novice impression as a subscriber.

Anyway well done on your Podcast it's great! I like you selection on music and look forward to each new episode. I'll be sure to leave comments from time to time just to let you know we're out here listening.

Noticed you're maybe having the same trouble I did when I moved to a mac. The key-combo for the hash sign is alt-and-3.

After my 4 mile jog to the train station each morning, I love to relax by listening to chillcast.co.uk on my iPod. You are doing a great job - Please keep them coming!

Great music! I know it's a lot of work, thanks!
Keep in mind that a small percentage of people will contact you, typically 10% or less, so if you get 10 comments, you have at least 100 listeners. I can't wait for the next episode!

Thanks for the comment Frank.
Chillcast is currently in the process of obtaining a 'podcasting' license
We are soo glad you felt the need though...
For info though : a license starts from just £120!

I believe there is another show that includes chillcast in its title unlike this other podcast we are only interested in chillout music not 'podcasting communities', 'podcaster networking' nor self promotion.

The genre chillout and the phrase podcast do lead to chillcast and its to be expected.

Discovered your podcasts while browsing ITUNES store. Linked to it from Bedroomclassics Radio Hour podcast. I find your casts perfect for workday and end-day chillin'. 45 - 60 min would be better but it sounds like you are doing this after your work. Thanks. ( Maine, US)
